One topic I really haven’t blogged much about is my favorite lip products. (I have a lot of them!) I don’t know about you guys, but I always tend to gravitate toward neutrals — specifically colors that fall within the rosey nude & mauve family.*
*I will add a caveat that I recently tried this Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond in a bold red, and I might start going bold more often!
I love playing around with different lip liners, lipsticks, and lip gloss combinations, so I figured I’d share two combos that I’ve been doing a lot lately!
Even if you wear just the lipsticks on their own, each of these shades has my enthusiastic stamp of approval.
PRO TIP: If you’re not already a Sephora Beauty Insider, I highly recommend signing up. IT’s FREE to join and there are a ton of fab perks. For ex: when I ordered the Armani and Rare Beauty lipsticks featured below, I was able to get $10 off by applying points I had accumulated over the past few months.
ROSEY NUDE
Ok I am in love with this combo! It really makes your lips look plump and juicy, but also extremely natural. I use the Pillow Talk lip cheat to overline by bottom lip and top lip (just in the center, not down the sides or in the corners!) There’s a reason why they call it “lip cheat” — you can literally cheat your way to fuller-looking lips.
I then fill in with the Armani Lip Power. The pointed shape of the Armani tip is incredible for application. I wish every lipstick was shaped like this! Gives you really precise application. Plus, the formula is gorgeous and creamy.
Adding a touch of the Fenty gloss in the center really gives you that juicy, full pout.
The Lipstick:
Armani Lip Power Long Lasting Satin Lipstick
Shade: 109 Intimate – medium beige rose
The Liner:
Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner
Shade: Pillow Talk
The Gloss:
FENTY Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer
Shade: $weetmouth – shimmering soft pink
MUTED MAUVE
Perhaps it’s because I’m a child of the ’90s, but I liiiiive for a good mauve lip. This combo in particular is great because it’s not like a muddy rusty mauve—it’s muted and subtle, with peachy undertones.
I love the combination of lining with Makeup by Mario’s Sculpting Lip Pencil in Rich Mauve (which creates a darker shadow around the lips) and then filling in with the matte Rare Beauty lipstick in Worthy. If you like a matte lip, you could totally just stop there!
Or, you can add one of my all-time favorite glosses: Pat McGrath’s Peach Perversion. It adds a lightness and touch of shimmer to the look.
The Lipstick:
Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lipstick
Shade: Worthy – muted mauve
The Liner:
Makeup by Mario Ultra Suede® Sculpting Lip Pencil
Shade: Rich Mauve
The Gloss:
Pat McGrath Labs Lust Lip Gloss
Shade: Peach Perversion
I’d love to know what your ride-or-die lip colors and combos are. Leave them in the comments below!
