I don’t know about you, but whenever the seasons change and we cross the threshold from spring to summer, I feel the need to prepare my limbs for their big debut, as if they were emerging from a bear-like hibernation.
A few weeks ago I put on a cute mini-dress after several months of pants-only living, and realized that the situation from my waist down required, shall we say… a bit of help.
Things looked scaly. And patchy. And dry.
In some spots? Things even looked translucent.
My arms, legs, and bikini line were in desperate need of TLC.
Luckily, I’d been down this road many times before. After years and years of experimenting with different body-care products, I knew exactly what my skin needed to make its post-hibernation debut.
Body Skincare for Summer
While I have a lot of tried-and-true favorites for “body skincare” (namely Necessaire’s Body Serum, Sol de Janiero’s Bum Bum Cream & Firmeza Oil, and Kate McLeod’s Body Stone) I was excited to test out some new-to-me things this year. (The body care selection at Sephora is honestly on ANOTHER LEVEL right now if you’re looking for some new things to try.)
Below you’ll find two products that really stood out to me—and that I think you’ll love too.
Topicals High Roller Ingrown Serum
I was doing a weekend staycation with a girlfriend a few months ago, and as we were getting ready and comparing some of our new favorite finds, she pulled Topicals High Roller out of her toiletry bag.
She proceeded to rave about how it dramatically improved her struggle with ingrown hairs, and I knew it sounded like a product I should probably have on hand as summer approached. I opened my Sephora app and literally bought it on the spot.
While I don’t deal with ingrowns on a day-to-day basis, when they do pop up, it drives me INSANE—and I never know how to handle them. About a month or so after buying the serum, I had been doing laser hair removal on my bikini area, and it caused an unsightly bump that I wanted to get rid of.
I remembered that I had the Topicals High Roller Serum, so I decided to put it to the test. Within 2 days, the bump, irritation, and discoloration were basically gone. I’ve since used it on other areas—specifically my legs and armpits—and continue to be impressed.
It’s something I love to have in my bodycare arsenal at all times… just in case.
Isle of Paradise Brilliantly Bright Body Moisturizer
I’ve been a longtime fan of Isle of Paradise’s self-tanning drops, so when I heard they were coming out with a body moisturizer, I had a feeling it would be good.
But, if we’re being honest—I have an entire DRESSER DRAWER full of body lotions. Many of them I’ve only used a handful of times, because I always end up going back to my tried-and-true favorites. Needless to say, it takes a lot for a product to stand out from the crowd… and the Brilliantly Bright Body Moisturizer has done just that.
On a completely surface level, it was the scent that drew me in at first. OMG. I’m honestly salivating just thinking about it. It’s a deliciously juicy blend of citrus fruits and florals that almost reminds me of drinking a piña colada on the beach.
After using it religiously, I can tell you that the scent is just an added bonus.
The texture and formula are really what make this product a home run for me. It has three of my all-time favorite ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Vitamin C. If you struggle with dullness, dark spots, or discoloration, you’ll find that ingredient trio to be a gamechanger.
I love how quickly it absorbs into my skin, and how it gives a slight sheen after application. I also love to use it after getting a spray tan because it doesn’t disturb the color. Overall – it’s a great product that I plan to use year-round, but especially now that my skin is on full display for the season.
Both the Ingrown Hair Serum and the Brilliantly Bright Body Moisturizer are available at Sephora!
