As someone who tests beauty products and makeup for a living, I think that I’m pretty qualified to judge whether or not a makeup brand or specific product is worth it.
It’s no secret that Charlotte Tilbury is an incredibly talented and well-known celebrity makeup artist. She also happened to create one of the most popular beauty brands that’s around today. Her products have a strong reputation for being high-quality, luxurious, and timeless.
I have been a fan of Charlotte Tilbury since day one, and in turn, have tried pretty much all of the products offered. I’ve consistently been impressed with the way her makeup holds up over time, and I’m a big fan of several of her skincare products.
Here, I’m sharing my honest review of Charlotte Tilbury products so you can decide whether or not the brand is a good fit for you.
Charlotte Tilbury Review
Like I mentioned above, I’ve been on the Charlotte Tilbury bandwagon since the start.
One of the first products I tried from the brand happens to still be one of my all-time favorites (more on that below). All of her makeup and skincare products are just made with a quality that’s hard to compete with — it’s honestly somewhat hard to explain until you experience it yourself.
All of her products hold up well throughout the day and the shades she introduces are always pretty and classic. It’s definitely priced on the higher end in terms of makeup brands, but the quality completely justifies the luxury price point.
Below, I’m sharing a handful of my tried-and-true favorites. This is by no means a comprehensive list of everything I love from the brand, but these would all be good things to start with/add to your rotation of everyday makeup products.
Best Charlotte Tilbury Products
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
So I’ve tried almost every single one of Charlotte Tilbury’s products. I definitely have a few favorites, and number one on my list (which has been my number one since the product first launched) is the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. I cannot say enough good things about it.
I wear it pretty much every single day that I wear makeup and love the versatility it offers. I also like that you can wear it alone instead of wearing a skin tint or foundation. It gives you this really glowy, lit-from-within complexion. If you’re into natural makeup looks, this would be a good product to add to your routine.
On days that you want more coverage, you can layer the Flawless Filter on top of your favorite foundation.
Another perk? You can use it to highlight certain spots on your face. I typically apply it to the high points of my face, my cheek bones, on the tip of my nose, and on my brow bone. It leaves you with a subtle yet pretty highlighting effect.
Plus, when you use the Flawless Filter as a highlighter, it’s much more moisturizing than powder highlighters because it’s a liquid formula. It doesn’t leave you with a chalky or powdery finish but rather makes your skin look glowy, healthy, and gorgeous — three wins in my book.
Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Cream Bronzer
When I’m doing a natural, soft glam makeup look, I much prefer using a cream bronzer over a powder bronzer. There’s something that feels a little bit more effortless and natural about the way that cream-based products melt into the skin.
This Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Cream Bronzer is a fairly new product, so I only started using it recently, but WOW…where has it been all of my life?! It’s INCREDIBLE.
The nice thing about this bronzer is that it blends like a dream. You truly do not need any technical skill or artistry to make this work for you. I recommend going in with a slightly dense brush, swiping just beneath your cheekbones, and then blending into your temples, jawline, and onto your cheeks. Also, don’t forget to blend down to your neck.
Two little application tips that I love (particularly with this bronzer):
- Apply it to your eyelids the way you would a shadow. You’ll notice it adds the most gorgeous depth to your eyes, and also brings your whole look together.
- Apply it just below and above your lips, and it will create a shadow, giving you a fuller-looking pout.
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk
Charlotte Tilbury created Pillow Talk to be sort of like a universally flattering lipstick and liner on many different skin tones and I absolutely love it for that reason.
Also, the Pillow Talk Liner is basically meant to give your lips almost like a filled lip cheat look, so it’s very similar to a natural rosy lip color (aka perfect for everyday wear).
Plus, when you line with the Pillow Talk Lip Liner, it creates an effect of fuller lips.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream
The story behind the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is one of my favorites (and makes me love this product even more than I already do.)
Before Charlotte Tilbury launched her namesake makeup brand, she was a makeup artist who did red carpet events and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She used to basically make her own concoction of a moisturizer that she would apply on all of her models and celebrities before she did their makeup. This concoction was essentially a super moisturizing, great cream that would go underneath the makeup.
People would always ask her what it was and it was something that she just was creating herself. Everyone referred to it as Charlotte’s Magic Cream and eventually she went on to launch the Charlotte Tilbury brand.
I think one of the very first products that she launched with was the Magic Cream and it was the thing that she had always been using behind the scenes that celebrities loved.
When she commercialized it and made Magic Cream available to everyone, I remember I tried it for the first time and immediately fell in love with it. It really is just an incredible product to wear underneath makeup.
It’s super hydrating and it makes your skin look poreless and flawless. It’s probably in my top three of all of Charlotte Tilbury products.
Charlotte Tilbury Super Nudes Eyeshadow Palette
The Super Nudes Easy Eyeshadow Palette is another one of my favorite Charlotte products.
First of all, if you are sort of a beginner and you’re not well versed with doing your eye makeup, I love that this palette comes with a plastic overlay that tells you exactly which step you should use each shadow and where to apply it. I actually keep that on top of my palette and use it as a reference anytime I’m doing my eyeshadow.
I also think that these are all very wearable colors. They’re the perfect nudes and neutrals to have on hand and can give you a lot of versatility whether you want a smokey eye or an everyday bronzy look.
Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation
One of the best foundations for those who like airbrushed-looking skin: Charlotte Tilbury’s Beautiful Skin Foundation.
This has actually been part of my rotation for a really long time, and I’ve always wondered why I hadn’t been seeing more people talk about it.
It almost gives you the look of a skincare foundation…where your skin looks really dewey, healthy, and glowy. If you have hyperpigmentation, dark spots, acne, or imperfections, this foundation will also help to blur that all out.
I especially love recommending Beautiful Skin Foundation to anyone who has dry skin, because it’s like a drink of water for your face. That said, if you’re oily or normal, you’ll want to set it with a light dusting of powder (unsurprisingly, CT makes a great one.)
I love this foundation so much that I literally own it in 3 shades — neutral 4, 5, and 6. Neutral 4 is what I typically use year-round when I’m not using a self-tanner.
Is Charlotte Tilbury Worth it?
After all of that, if you’re still not convinced, I can enthusiastically confirm that Charlotte Tilbury products are absolutely worth it. I truly think the brand offers some of the best makeup products on the market right now.
Plus, I always say that makeup artist-founded brands are my favorites because makeup artists just understand what people need and want when it comes to products.
