16 Most Comfortable Work Pants for Women

most comfortable work pants for women

While I haven’t worked in the corporate world in several years, I know many of you still head to into an office on a day-to-day or even on a part-time basis.

When I was working as an editor, I was lucky enough to be able to wear a variety of styles/outfits (not just work pants.) However, I know that’s not the case for everyone, so I wanted to put together a list of the most comfortable work pants for women.

Dressing for work can certainly be a struggle—you want to look cute but need to maintain a professional and polished look. Striking the balance between comfort and professionalism is not easy to achieve, but luckily, work pants have gotten so. much. cuter.

Honestly, with trousers being very much on trend right now, I’d reach for a lot of these pants for many other outings aside from work. The bottoms I’m sharing below would not only be appropriate for an office setting, but they’d also look cute to wear to dinner, an event, or happy hour when you want to wear something other than your go-to jeans.

To form the most helpful list (and accommodate those of you with different styles, sizes, and budgets), I enlisted the help of the #SilbSquad. Here’s what the verdict is on the best work pants…

16 Comfortable Work Pants

Most Comfortable Dress Pants for Work

Just looking for a wardrobe staple that sort of does it all? These dress pants would look adorable with so many different pieces—and they don’t scream, “I’m a banker.”

Aritzia The Effortless Pant

I would suggest these trousers to everyone, even if they don’t need work pants. They are so flattering and comfortable you literally won’t want to take them off. They also look just as cute to wear when to work as they do to grab cocktails—so versatile and timeless.

I have these pants in a few different colors and might snag another pair since they’re offered in such a large variety of hues.

Another bonus: These come in four different lengths (so now hemming is required!)

Abercrombie Sloane Tailored Pant

There’s no denying that Abercrombie has made a major comeback in recent years, and these trousers might be one of their best styles yet. People love them because they fit incredibly well—almost as if they were designed specifically for your body type.

They also score bonus points because they don’t wrinkle easily (meaning you’ll look put together throughout the day.) Also, you could easily dress these up or down, depending on the type of office vibe you have/where you’re going.

Anthropologie The Colette Cropped Pants

I seen a lot of people talking about these pants in my Facebook group and then read the reviews on Anthro and the overall consensus was that they were *life changing.* They are truly so comfortable and have the best stretch. They also make your legs look very long and I love that they don’t give off a “traditional” work pant vibe.

If you’re between sizes, go with the lower size because they do stretch a bit (in a good way.)

Aday After Work Slacks

On the other hand, if you’re looking for more traditional work slacks, this pair is highly coveted. They’re designed with a looser fit through the leg, ensuring you stay comfortable throughout the day (no clingy material here!)

Other highlights: They’re wrinkle free, pilling resistant, and quick drying. Reviewers like that they can wear these from the office to after-work outings when there isn’t time to change.

Amazon Paper Bag Waist Pants

Amazon is an obvious go-to for just about everything, including work pants. One #SilbSquad member gave these pants the following review:

“I’m obsessed with these! I wear them ALL the time and always get compliments. People are always surprised they’re from Amazon. I’m usually a 4 in pants and wear a small. They are fitted but not tight on the legs—I have a muscular build and they’re so flattering.”

Most Comfortable Stretch Work Pants

If your work environment is a bit more laid back, you might be able to get away with a pair of stretch pants. The key here is to choose a pair that are made with quality—anything that lacks shape or gets too baggy probably won’t fly.

Everlane Bi-Stretch Work Pants

As if the name of these pants doesn’t sell you on their comfort, maybe the fact that they’re made with a 4-way stretch material will. People claim that these work wonders on holding you in (without squeezing!) and that the mid-rise fit is actually quite flattering.

They come in navy, beige, cocoa, and black and have a side seam zipper to make it easy to get them on and off.

Athleta Brooklyn Ankle Pants

These stretchy yet structured pants came highly recommended in my Facebook group.

“If you can swing $100 on a pair of Athleta pants, they really are quality. No fade and soooo stretchy. If you have any type of commute to work it’s a blessing to wear something that truly is meant for more athletic wear.”

Norma Kamali Spat Leggings

Leggings to work? With these, you likely can get away with it. I own this exact pair and could not speak more highly about the fit and look. I’m a big fan of the split hem detailing, which makes them feel so much more feminine and “fun” than most work pants.

Also, because they are technically leggings, you don’t have to worry about comfort.

Most Comfortable High Waisted Work Pants

There’s something about high waisted pants that makes them inherently comfortable, especially for long days at work. It’s also helpful that this style is very much in right now, meaning there’s a large selection to choose from. Here are some standouts…

J.Crew High-Rise Cameron Pant

If you’re looking for high-rise pants that don’t gap in the waist area, this pair is it (leave it to J.Crew to totally nail it.) The brand created these pants with their famous four-season stretch fabric, which they note never gets baggy and is ideal for all temperatures.

The fit is slim through the hips and thighs, with a cropped ankle. They currently come in three classic colors—gray, black, and navy.

Aritzia The Limitless Pant

This is another Aritzia find that I own and love. These pants are made with a crepe-like fabric that sit so nicely against your body and also adds unique texture to an office outfit.

I’m obsessed with the fact that these have big pockets (that you can actually put your hands in.) It’s unclear why, but there’s something that’s just so chic about that.

Spanx The Perfect Pant

People have dubbed these as the “unicorn” of work pants. They feature a high-rise fit, smooth ponte fabric, and a pull-on design for a seamless looking fit. They also have been noted to hold up really well in the washing machine, which is always an added perk.

Spanx is obviously known for creating comfortable, stretchy wardrobe staples, so these pants would be an obvious go-to if you need one solid pair that you can rely on.

Aritzia Infinity Pants

If you’re into the more wide-leg look (I’m with you) but don’t want your pants to feel baggy or oversized, try this pair. I have some pants from Aritzia in “matte pearl” (shown in the photo below) and think it’s such a pretty color for year-round wear.

Most Comfortable Skinny Work Pants

Skinny jeans might not be as popular as they once were, but skinny or straight leg work pants are certainly still chic. Keep in mind that “skinny” doesn’t have to mean they hug your legs all the way down. If you’re looking for a more form-fitted pant option, these are your best bet.

Banana Republic Skinny Sloan Pants

The Skinny Sloan Pants are a forever favorite of Banana Republic customers because they’re ultra-soft and stretchy. Despite their luxe fabric, they provide a supportive and “lifting” fit and hold their shape well over time.

I’m really digging the stone gray color of the pants shown below, but they also come in black and navy if you want a darker option.

M.M. LaFleur The Colby Pant

The brand nicknamed these straight leg bottoms as “sweatpants for work.” They have an elastic waistband and jogger-style leg that tapers at the ankle to create a streamlined silhouette.

As one of my Facebook group members put it: “If you want something less fitted, these are flowy, look nice/dressy, but feel like pajamas!”

J.Crew Pixie Pants

Comfort and style collide with these Pixie Pants. They’re considered a cross between leggings and work pants, meaning they offer that elevated look while maintaining a cozy factor. I’d pair these with some chunky loafers and a blazer for an outfit that will make a statement whether you’re in meetings or you’re grabbing coffee with a colleague.

p.s. If you need more office-appropriate shoe ideas, these are the most comfortable shoes for standing all day.

Aday Turn it Up Pants

These trousers might not necessarily be skin tight but they have a skinny/straight leg look that I’m totally loving. The olive green offers a nice way to break up your typical black or navy workwear, but they come in 13 other colors.

Little details like the front pleats and exposed elastic waistband make these stick out (in the best possible way.)
