Keeping your hair in check is an ongoing process that takes several small changes to really make a difference.
Aside from eating a well-balanced diet and getting frequent haircuts, here are some healthy hair tips that will improve the way your locks look.
Healthy Hair Tips
Use a silk pillowcase.
One of the easiest (and most luxe!) ways to help your strands out? Sleep with a silk pillowcase!
Regular cotton pillowcases might be the norm, but the friction between the material and your hair can lead to breakage over time.
Silk pillowcases offer up a smoother texture for you to sleep on—and bonus—they keep your head cool.
Sleep with your hair in a loose braid.
Rather than blow dry your hair after every shower, give it a break from the heat by pulling it back loosely in a braid.
Using hot tools too frequently can cause hair to look dry and dull—and it’s another way to fall subject to breakage.
If your hair is on the frizzy side, make sure you use a product that targets and smooths flyaways. This Living Proof No Frizz Vanishing Oil limits frizz by blocking humidity and hydrating your hair.

End your shower with a cool rinse.
I get it—this is much easier said than done—but hear me out. Washing your hair with hot water can strip it of its natural oils and cause dryness, and even an itchy scalp.
A blast of cold water at the end of your steam sesh can help flatten your hair cuticles and lock in moisture. The cool rinse doesn’t need to last long—just 15-20 seconds should do.
Consider taking supplements.
If you’ve taken biotin or prenatal vitamins and been disappointed to see little to no results, try taking a hair-specific supplement instead. Nutrafol and Viviscal are two good options that directly target thinning hair and promote new growth.

Use a weekly clarifying shampoo.

Combat dry locks with hair oil.
If you’ve already overdone it with the blow dryer or flat iron and your hair is left extra dry, nourish your ends with a hair oil. There are lots of great options out there, and it’s easy to incorporate into your routine.
After you shower, simply put a couple drops of oil in the palm of your hands, rub your hands together, then distribute evenly on your ends.
You can even use what’s left on your hands and wipe it on the top of your head to combat frizz.

Try a hair mask.
