How to Use Boob Tape

Have you ever wondered how celebs always seem to have perky boobs, even when they’re clearly not wearing a bra? Whether you love her or hate her, we have Kim Kardashian to thank for letting us in on an industry secret: boob tape.

Boob tape is a game-changer, especially if you want (or need) to ditch your bra for a bit. They hold everything in place and can make your boobs look great. Plus, with breast tape, you can wear strapless tops, low-cut shirts, and backless dresses without worrying about visible bra straps, unwanted nip-slips, peek-a-boo cups, and so on.

Today, I’m sharing everything you need to know about using boob tape for different top styles.

How to Use Boob Tape

Kim Kardashian’s technique is worth emulating, but she made one crucial mistake: using the wrong tape. Kim K revealed that she’s used gaffer tape, packing tape, and even duct tape in place of a bra — her commitment to a braless style is truly impressive. The billionaire mogul has since deleted her blog post promoting the use of these tapes. Take that as a warning.

Instead, stick to tape that is designed to be used on your skin. Also, I highly recommend conducting a patch test to make sure the tape won’t cause an allergic reaction or skin irritation. Some women, including those with sensitive skin, use nipple covers and then apply the tape over them.

I like this particular boob tape bundle because it also comes with two different types of nipple covers. However, I also like to use athletic tapes as they are formulated for use on the skin and in my opinion, tend to stick way better. I’m a fan of KT Athletic Tape, and depending on the occasion and outfit, I will use either the gentle version or the extreme stick version. What is Boob Tape?

Have you ever found the perfect top or dress, only to realize that a bra won’t work with it? Or maybe you’re just annoyed by strapless bras that refuse to stay in place?

On a side note, if you’re in search of some quality strapless bras, here are some of the best options and here are good strapless bra options for women with big boobs. Even when you have a trusted strapless, sometimes it’s nice to just go without a bra entirely. And don’t even get me started on those frustrating sticky bras. In any case, boob tape is an easy solution.

Simply put, boob tapes are strips of fabric with adhesive backing that you can use in place of a bra. These specialized tapes can be cut and shaped to your natural curves to lift and support your chest. With boob tape, you can achieve your ideal silhouette without a bra, no matter what kind of top you’re wearing.

As tempting as it might be to use whatever tape you have laying around your house, I strongly recommend avoiding Kim K’s mistake of using gaffer tape, duct tape, or packing tape. You can use a product specially designed to use on your body, like this boob tape or sports tape, to perfectly lift, shape, and support your breasts. You can also choose between different nude color shades to accommodate different complexions. Again, there are even some tapes that are specially designed for people with sensitive skin.

One important step when applying boob tape is to clean and dry the area you’re applying it to, to ensure it stays in place. You’ll also want to avoid using any body oils or lotions that might prevent it from sticking.

How to Use Boob Tape for Big Boobs vs. Small Boobs

There are several different ways to apply boob tape, depending on the top you’re wearing and the look you’re hoping to achieve. Boob tape is designed to work with just about any style of top or dress, including strapless, backless, and a plunging neckline. The main difference between using boob tape for big boobs and small boobs is the amount of tape used.

For some women, 1-2 strips is enough. Others need a lot more tape to hold everything in place. Bigger cup sizes usually require more tape to provide enough support. Don’t hesitate to use however many strips you need to give you the lift and support you want.

How to Use Boob Tape With a Strapless Dress or Spaghetti Straps

Step 1: Cut tape into strips.

Cut a strip of boob tape that is long enough to reach across your chest, from one armpit to the other.

Step 2: Apply the tape.

Lean forward and apply the strip of tape at the very bottom of your breasts. Leaning forward as you apply the tape will create cleavage.

Step 3: Repeat.

Repeat this process with more strips of tape, placing each additional strip above the last (you’re essentially creating a backless tube top with tape).

Step 4: Keep the tape hidden.

Stop taping when you get to where your strapless top hits so that no tape will be visible.

How to Use Boob Tape for V-Neck or Low-Cut Tops or Dresses

Step 1: Position your boobs.

Working with one boob at a time, position and hold your breasts in the place you want them. Push your boobs up and in until you achieve the look you’re going for.

Step 2: Cut tape into strips.

Cut a strip of tape long enough to stretch from just past your nipple to your underarm.

Step 3: Apply tape.

Apply one strip at a time, horizontally, underneath your boobs where the band of your bra usually hits.

Step 4: Hold boobs in place and continue.

While continuing to hold your boobs in place, work upwards, applying more strips horizontally along your bustline.

Step 5: Apply vertical strips.

Apply more strips vertically, beginning at the base of your breast and finishing over your shoulder. For a push-up bra effect, push your boob inward. Be sure to only apply the strips to the outer parts of your chest (working from the nipple toward your armpit) that will be covered by your top.

How to Use Boob Tape for Backless Dress

For a backless dress, you can use the same technique as above, or follow these steps:

Step 1: Apply vertical strips of tape.

Working with one breast at a time, lift your breast and apply a strip of tape underneath, beginning underneath your boob and moving upward in a vertical direction. Repeat on the other side.

Step 2: Apply more strips if needed.

Depending on your cup size and the amount of support you need, you might need to add more strips of tape to each side.

Step 3: Try on your dress.

Try on your dress to make sure the tape is covered and your boobs look how you want.

How to Remove Boob Tape

It’s important to work slowly when removing breast tape. The goal is to avoid any discomfort or damage to your skin. The easiest way to remove boob tape is to soak the tape in warm water or use an oil-based skin product to help dissolve the adhesive. Then, while holding your breast with one hand, use your other hand to slowly peel the tape off.

With boob tape, you can go braless and still have the support and coverage you want.

Worrying about your bra showing is a thing of the past. Boob tape is a total game-changer that allows you to achieve the exact look you’re going for, without ever putting on a bra.
