While I like to spend more of my time in the ski lodge drinking a cocktail rather than hitting the slopes, there’s one aspect of a snow trip that is just as challenging as conquering black diamond—planning your outfits.
Matt and I recently went on a trip to Aspen and I’ve been getting a lot of questions about what I wore. Since I know firsthand that ski trip outfit planning can be quite daunting, I figured I would round up exactly what I wore (as well as more ski trip packing inspo!)
DURING THE DAY
Cozy, cream, and chic.
After a long day of skiing, nothing is better than putting on something oversized, cozy, and warm. Just like the all-black outfit above, try channeling a “winter white” vibe with a cream-colored look.
Bonus: monochromatic outfits are SO easy to pack and throw on in a hurry—getting ready is just easier when you are wearing all the same color.
Denim on denim with a touch of faux fur.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake officially made Canadian tuxedos an iconic look back in 2001. To keep things up-to-date, dress up your denim outfit with fur accessories like boots or a winter hat.
Add a pop of color to stand out on the slopes.
Adding bright colors to your wardrobe can be scary sometimes, but there’s no better place than the mountains to test it out. With an idyllic winter white background, adding a fun, bright color like this pink vest just works.
Change up your outfit with only a few key items.
The best part about packing for a ski trip is you can re-use a lot of key items like your hat, jacket, and shoes. You can easily switch up your outfit by alternating a bodysuit, turtleneck, or sweater as the base.
Go classic with a plaid trench coat.
I’ve had this plaid coat for years and find myself pairing it with leather leggings and my favorite over-the-knee boots whenever I’m traveling somewhere cold. This outfit just feels festive yet it’s totally timeless.
Sport some stripes.
All black everything.
Monochromatic is having a moment. You can’t really go wrong with an all black outfit. Mix things up with different textures and fabrics to keep things interesting. Leather pants are certainly something to splurge on during the winter season—and I’m obsessed with these leather pants.
PRO TIP: If these Abercrombie Vegan Leather Pants are in stock in your size, don’t even think twice. Just buy them. I wear a size 25R and they run true to size.
If all black is too dark for you, swap the black bodysuit for a more neutral color.
Après-ski inspired by Ralph Lauren.
Finding cute yet warm and quality ski outfits is an entirely different challenge. Here’s some outfit inspo for your next time on the slopes.
