My boyfriend says I look prettiest without makeup, which, in my opinion, is a ridiculous thing for a man to say, since I definitely did not ask for his opinion, and I don’t really care what he thinks!
But, I also do kind of care what he thinks and, subconsciously or not, have found myself digging the no makeup makeup look lately. (He’s a wonderful boyfriend, and I am sorry for putting him on blast on the Internet.)
Boyfriend’s opinion aside, I’m not seeing very many people these days, and my skin is the best it’s ever been (knock on wood). All this is to say, while his opinion certainly plays a role, it’s not the only deciding factor here.
As the saying goes, you can take the girl out of the glam but you can’t take the glam out of the girl.
So while I’m cutting back on the graphic liner and bold brows, I’m still spending far too much time in front of the vanity and hoarding makeup like the absolute fiend I am.
That’s why I can confidently say I’ve nailed the no-makeup makeup look (just ask the BF). Read on for the products that make it happen.
Your Guide to the No Makeup Makeup Look
Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment, Dr. Jart+
This TikTok favorite needs no introduction: it neutralizes redness and evens out skin tone, leaving skin radiant and vibrant.
Super Serum Skin Tint, ILIA
Meet The Little Serum That Could. This powerhouse provides light, dewy coverage, a healthy dose of SPF, and active levels of good-for-you skincare ingredients. I’m not sure I could ask for anything more.
CC+ Cream, It Cosmetics
If you want a more natural look without sacrificing coverage, this is the foundation for you—the “your skin but better” tagline does not lie. This CC+ cream hydrates, corrects, and protects the skin without ever settling into fine lines or looking cakey.
Stretch Concealer, Glossier
Glossier’s Stretch Concealer is buildable, blendable, and absolutely in-expendable. It enhances and, most importantly, disappears into the skin, leaving behind a dewy, glowy finish.
Radiant Creamy Concealer, NARS
I truly believe everyone should have this concealer in their makeup kit. The award-winning formula features a balancing powder that masks imperfections and blurs fine lines for up to 16 hours.
Hollywood Flawless Filter, Charlotte Tilbury
Apply this below the under eyes and in a c-shape from above the brow arch to the top of the cheekbone for a glowing-from-within effect. It’s like an Instagram filter in a bottle.
Double Take Contour Stick, Uoma
Lindsay and I are both obsessed with this ridiculously creamy contour stick. I apply this above my cheekbones, around my hairline, and below my chin to create a chiseled, naturally defined-looking face.
Nudies Matte Blush & Bronze, Nudestix
This multi-stick is a personal fave. It blends into the skin seamlessly and has some serious staying power. I opt for the shade Sunkissed, which I’ve used as both a blush and a bronzer depending on the situation.
Beach Please Tinted Lip + Cheek Balm, Tower28
While the colors come off a bit intense in the packaging, all three of these balms blend into the skin and leave behind the perfect natural flush.
Seriously, every single time I use this blush, Lindsay asks what it is—it’s that good.
Powder Bronzer, Anastasia Beverly Hills
I like to sweep a matte, powder bronzer like this one across the cheeks and hairline to add just a hint of warmth to the face.
I also work this into the crease of my eye with a fluffy blending brush to create some natural definition.
Boy Brow, Glossier
A few swipes of Boy Brow leaves brows looking fluffy and thick, while holding them in place with its pomade-like grip.
Lash Slick, Glossier
If you’re looking for a natural “baby extension” lash with zero clumping, there’s really only one mascara for you: Lash Slick.
It curls, lengthens, and subtly defines lashes without giving off the dreaded spider-eyed look.
AfterGlow Lip Balm, NARS
The key to perfectly pink, naturally glossy lips is a great tinted balm. This one from NARS adds a hint of your-lips-but-better color and a deep boost of hydration for plump, luscious looking lips.
