Even though I continuously tell myself that I have no need to buy new makeup, sometimes I just can’t help it! When I come across a product comes out that sounds really intriguing, my curiosity gets the best of me.
It’s almost like something takes over my body and *POOF* – there I am, right back in the Sephora app, adding to cart. (At least I can justify it by saying that I’m doing “research” for all of you.)
My latest haul included a few restocks of some faves, like the Makeup by Mario lip sculpting pencil in Dmitry (which is the best shade ever — if it’s out of stock, set a notification alert!) and I bought my mom the legendary/life-changing/iconic Gucci bronzer for her birthday. (Shade 2 makes me look like I just got back from a Caribbean vacation.)
It also included a bunch of just-launched products that truly piqued my interest. Below, I’ve highlighted three things from my haul that truly stood out!
Iconic London Liquid Brow Silk Max Hold Gel
I feel like I’ve tried pretty much every popular brow product on the market, and I have a number of favorites in terms of pencils (like Brow Wiz, which I’ve used for years)—but I’ve been on the hunt for a new go-to brow gel… and I think I’ve found it.
It’s a new product called Brow Silk that promises to give maximum hold and lift to your brows, and truly delivers on that promise. For me, there was a bit of a learning curve in how to properly use it, but now that I’ve mastered it, I’m obsessed.
A few of my tips!
- It works best on completely clean brows—so make sure they’re free of any other product (especially moisturizer) before applying
- I also recommend using it before you do any other makeup, that way you won’t need to worry about messing up your foundation as you style your brows
- Don’t be alarmed by the fact that it looks white when it’s initially applied. It will eventually dry clear!
- I like to swipe the brush throughout my entire brow to ensure every hair is coated first. Then, I style my brows in whatever shape I prefer.
- I’d recommend having a clean spoolie on hand so that you can clean up your brows after they’re styled, without depositing additional product.
- Once the brow gel has dried, you can go back in with a brow pencil or pen to lightly fill in any sparse areas.
PRO TIP: if you’re not already a Sephora Beauty Insider, I highly highly recommend signing up. IT’S FREEE!
KVD Tattoo Pencil Waterproof Gel Eyeliner
When I think about brands who are known for their eyeliners, KVD Beauty immediately comes to mind. (I truly credit the famed KVD liquid tattoo liner with giving me the ability to learn how to do a wing!)
So, when I heard KVD was coming out with a longwear gel pencil eyeliner, I knew I had to have it. As someone who is constantly rubs/touches my eyes, I really struggle with finding a pencil liner that stays put.
This one holds up all day, doesn’t run, and is incredibly smooth + easy to apply. And as an added bonus: you don’t need a sharpener! All you do is twist up the bottom, and then drag the pencil onto a tissue for a sharper tip.
Since I have so many traditional black pencils, I decided to buy this one in cool brown, and I’ve been using it daily.
Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder
I’ve been hearing people rave about Danessa Myricks, and after I recently started following her on Instagram, I could see why everyone loved her + her products. (She’s an amazing celebrity makeup artist!)
When I saw that she was launching this blurring balm at Sephora, I knew I had to have it. Anything that has the words “blurring” and “balm” included in the product name? I’m sold.
This is an incredibly unique product that can be used in a lot of different ways. It comes in 11 shades, including “Universal” (which is what I bought — it’s basically translucent.)
Like the name implies, it goes on like a balm, but sets like a powder. You can use it as a primer to help blur out any texture, fine lines and pores, and it helps your foundation sit beautifully on top of your skin. You can also use it as an eye primer.
If you have oily skin, you’re going to absolutely LOVE it—the finish is super matte-ifying and it helps prevent shininess throughout the day.
I really love the Universal, but now I’m super curious to try the other shades, which can apparently be used to give you sheer coverage, and also contour (if you buy a shade darker than your skin tone.)
Ok so those are my top three new discoveries recently. Would love to hear yours!! Drop them in the comments below (and I’ll probably end up buying them too.)
