Sofia Richie Style Guide: How to Nail the Quiet Luxury Look

sofia richie style

There’s no denying that Sofia Richie has become quite the style icon in recent years. As if she wasn’t already on the map, her wedding last spring had every gal swooning over her timeless and effortless look—everything from her dress and accessories to her hair and makeup looked impeccably chic.

However, it wasn’t just her wedding day style that caught people’s attention. Richie has been nailing the quiet luxury look long before her big day, sticking to classic closet staples, like quality denim, basic white t-shirts, and chunky loafers to put together the ultimate cool-girl wardrobe.

Her fashion perfectly embodies that old-money vibe while capturing an understated, ready-for-anything feel. Many of her outfits seem approachable, realistic, and easy to replicate. Which makes her the ideal style icon for many women in her age group.

If you too are slightly obsessed with Richie’s wardrobe, I’m sharing a handful of looks that you can use as inspiration to recreate a similar vibe.

Consider this your go-to Sofia Richie style guide, which offers outfit ideas for just about every outing you could think of.

Invest in denim.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that investing in high quality denim is a game changer. While it might feel a little painful to spend a lot on jeans, you can certainly tell the difference between those that are well made and cheaper options.

Denim is a tried-and-true staple that will quite literally never go out of style. So think of this as an investment that will serve you well throughout the years. A few of my favorite brands to shop (at reasonable price points) are: Agolde, Mother, Frame, and Paige. Even Abercrombie has some options that are affordable yet quality.

Stick with basics.

In case you aren’t already a white t-shirt girly, Sofia Richie has shown us that wearing one can look undeniably chic. For this reason, don’t underestimate the basics! A simple white, gray, or black t-shirt can look elevated and put-together if you style it right.

Again, quality matters, so be sure to reach for options that are made to last (and that wash well.)

Befriend neutrals.

While Richie doesn’t necessarily shy away from wearing color, she’s most often seen rocking a neutral look. There’s something about neutrals that make an outfit look more polished, like wearing a gray cardigan with jeans and crisp white sneakers, or a little black dress with a denim jacket and strappy heels.

Another perk to investing in neutral pieces is that they’re easier to mix and match, providing you with more outfit options than you might have with brighter, more “noisy” colors and prints.

Get preppy.

Whether you slip into a pair of wide-leg trousers or you choose to throw a cardigan over your shoulders, leaning into the preppy trends will help you achieve a Richie-esque look.

Preppy pieces, like knit sweaters, plaid skirts, and tweed jackets give off an expensive feel, instantly upgrading a pair of jeans.

Loafers are another example of preppy fashion that is majorly on trend right now. If you aren’t sure how to style chunky loafers, I’ve got you covered! This post is filled with ideas.

Matching Blazer and Skirt Set

Not sure where to start? Try sticking with matching sets to pull off a Richie-worthy outfit. They’re easy to style because they take the guesswork out of getting dressed (you don’t have to put any thought into what to pair with what.)

The exact set I’m wearing is unfortunately sold out, but this beige mini dress offers a really similar look. I also think this tan blazer paired with these shorts is a cute option.

Trousers and a T-Shirt

When you want to wear pants but you’re feeling burnt out on your go-to jean outfit, reach for trousers instead. They have a more high-end vibe and are perfect to wear during occasions that require you to dress up a bit.

Balance the look by wearing a t-shirt on top, then throw a sweater over your shoulders and finish things off with flats or loafers.

Wide Leg Jeans and a T-Shirt

When in doubt, go with the trustworthy Sofia Richie uniform: wide-leg jeans and a white t-shirt. This makes a quality everyday look since it can be dressed up or down. It’s also a good day-to-night outfit because it would look just as chic during a day filled with appointments as it would for meeting friends for happy hour.

Opting for wide-leg denim over straight leg or cropped jeans is a good way to switch things up. And it adds some personality and visual interest to the overall look.

Also, don’t forget that accessories can make a big impact. I’m obsessed with these black sunglasses right now.

Button-Up Cardigan and a Silk Skirt

Ideal for more formal occasions, a solid colored slip skirt and a button-up cardigan prove to make a perfect match. This outfit definitely gives off a quiet luxury feel, yet it’s super comfortable and easy to throw together.

This ribbed-knit cardigan styled with this pearl white skirt will help you recreate the outfit. I’d recommended adding a coat, like this camel colored find, and some oval shaped sunnies (these are under $25!)

Crewneck Sweater and Trousers

Keep things casual with a cozy crewneck sweater and some crisp white trousers. Again, not to sound like a broken record, but sticking to really basic pieces will help you achieve an undeniably chic look.

I’d wear this brownish gray sweater with these high-waisted pants. For shoes, I’d go with classic pumps or loafers for more laid-back outings. Also, you could add a headband or gold jewelry if you want to give it a more feminine and flirty feel.

White Button-Up and Wide-Leg Jeans

If you don’t already have a white button-up shirt in your wardrobe, this is your sign to get one. There are so many ways you can style a button-up. And even though it’s a simple piece, it makes a very chic statement.

When I was in Paris, this was one of my most-worn outfits (I’ve been obsessed with wide-leg jeans lately.) It’s great because you could wear it nearly every day yet switch up the feel by swapping out your shoes and accessories.
