The Truth About the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

nordstrom anniversary sale 2019

How sick are we of talking about this? I know, I know. As always, I’m going to serve it to you straight, because “Influencer Transparency” is my thing.

The truth is, for a lot of bloggers, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale generates an INSANE amount of affiliate revenue—like, I wouldn’t be surprised if big fashion bloggers make a quarter of their entire annual income over the course of two weeks. (Affiliate revenue is the commission on the sales influencers make when you click our link and buy something.)

As you know, I’m fairly new to the “influencing” world. I was still working at Town & Country at this time last year—so I honestly have no clue what the exact earning potential is from posting about the sale. But based on the way bloggers are acting, I’d say it is A LOT. If I had to guess? Easily in the five figure range for macro-influencers.

And while I totally respect the hustle, I find the whole thing to be very overwhelming—plus, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like some people come off a little too aggressively salesy for my taste. Pushy salespeople are not my vibe. Like, I will literally walk around Bloomingdales with headphones on so that I can shop in peace and not get accosted by Sharon in the lingerie department.

That being said, I do think it’s an opportunity to get a good deal on stuff you’d be buying anyway. I bought a few things (listed below) but I’m keeping my recommendations VERY minimal because, quite frankly, I couldn’t be bothered to scroll through 150 cashmere sweaters on the Nordstrom website. Snooze. That’s probably why I’m not a fashion blogger.

My list is mostly beauty, plus PJs, candles, and Spanx. Practical purchases, you know? If you end up buying anything from these links I’ll make a commission on the purchase, but if you’re like me, you’ll probably return it a week later after changing your mind (lol) in which case the commission goes away. So, like, YOU DO YOU BOO.

FYI you can click to shop the product.

thanks! I tried to stick to only things I would buy if I wasn’t a blogger with a commission incentive.

I agree. I like the Nordstrom sale but I’m kinda sick of being bombarded with it on insta and since I don’t have the Nordstrom card and can’t shop early everything is fine by the time I get a chance anyway.

I follow a few fashion bloggers and this is my third Nordstrom Anniversary Sale sale following the bloggers. The clothes are on repeat from other sales and frankly they looked picked over – like TJMaxx . I no longer shop the sale

Posts like this are why I love you so much! I’ve been following you for years before you quit your job and you are so real. It’s so awesome to follow someone who is honest and not swayed by the commission they get from companies. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Another reason I follow you and actually watch your stories, you never push anything and give us only things you’d personally like or use. Thanks for continuing to stay real.

I have spent hours reading and looking thru your travel sites and enjoy everything I see. Thanks for all the hints and although some are too expensive for me I do take your advice.
My husband and I are going to Provence and the French Riviera hopefully April into early May for 3 weeks. Very excited and wonder if this covid thing will allow us to move around freely. Will definitely invest in packing cubes among other things and take a look at Google trips and maps.
    Thank you.
